Our mission is to rethink and redesign the way technology is used to support communities worldwide.

We find ways for communities to engage in healthy debate, share knowledge, and co-create solutions to their most pressing challenges.

The digital age promised to break through obstacles that limit opportunities for people to participate in their communities. Instead, people are underserved and increasingly divided by technology that otherwise has the capacity to empower them. Countries, organizations, and algorithms are creating new barriers online.

Our name, Digital Public Square, embodies our shared vision to help realize that original promise and break down those barriers.

We are a not-for-profit built by the founders of the DPS project at the University of Toronto.
